9/1/08 Update

DRAGONCON PHOTOS!
DragonCon (dragoncon.org) in Atlanta this past Labor Day weekend was a huge success. It was a lot of work and we are glad to be home, but we will definitely be back next year! Thanks to all of our old friends, and the new ones we made at the show, for coming by the booth in the Marriot. Special thanks to the many long time collectors who came by. It was great to see you all again. The costumes were great and the show was nuts as usual. Teresa was mobbed for photos Friday night in her Indiana Jane costume. My wookie-Jedi-tie fighter pilot costume was not as popular for some reason. Here are a few pix from the con!

GOLD EXOTATH COMING IN LATE SEPTEMBER
For those of you that collect the gold versions of Kit's swords, a limited edition 18K gold plated version of the Exotath (KR0030G) is almost here. It is strictly limited to 300 pieces and each will be serial numbered and come with a certificate of authenticity, hand signed by Kit. These are scheduled to be shipping from Kit's distributor, United Cutlery, to dealers around the end of September. We expect dealers will be taking pre-orders early next month. Suggested retail is $331.

EXOTATH WALL DISPLAY COMING IN LATE SEPTEMBER
A special wall display created by Kit for the Exotath will be available from dealers in late September (KR0040). This is a "universal" design, with multiple pre-drilled holes in the back so it will fit just about any sword shape. Suggested retail is $$32.25.

AVOLOCH MITHRODIN SWORD COMING SOON!
Here is a sneak peak at Kit's next sword, the Avoloch, scheduled for later this year. This is the latest addition to Kit's Swords of the Ancients Collection. This is a Mithrodin sword, the sword of Enethia, from the Exotath Mythology. More news to come later!

8/14/08 Update

DRAGONCON IN ATLANTA on LABOR DAY WEEKEND
Kit will be appearing at Dragoncon (dragoncon.org) in Atlanta, Georgia August 29 - September 1, 2008. Kit will be signing and selling his swords, knives, limited edition art prints, posters, Zippo art lighters, and statues in the Kit Rae Fantasy Art booth located in the Dealer Hall of the Marriot Marquis International Ballroom. Kit will also have a few of the replica Hiro Nakamura swords from the NBC television series, HEROES, for which Kit did the reverse engineering of the original prop and supervised the replica. Dragoncon is America's largest multi media popular arts convention, focusing on science fiction, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film. Host Hotels for the con are the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Atlanta Marriot Marquis, and the Atlanta Hilton. This is our last big con for the year so we hope to see you there! Also, if you see a gorilla/tie fighter pilot/jedi and his Indiana Jane companion after hours, you may want to say hi!

COMIC-CON PIX!
Thanks to everyone who came by the True Edge booth last weekend at Comic-Con International (www.comic-con.org) in San Diego, California. COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL, JULY 24-26 IN SAN DIEGO
Kit will be appearing at Comic-Con International (www.comic-con.org) in San Diego, California, July 24-26. Kit will be the special guest of True Edge, in booth 4618 of the Exhibit Hall. He will be autographing posters and products, and selling limited edition art prints. The show runs through Sunday the 27th, but Kit will only be there Thursday afternoon through Saturday. Comic-Con Memeberships can only be purchased online, and they are getting close to selling out, so get them quick if you plan on attending. See you there!

EXOTATH MYTHOLOGY ADDED TO THE TALE OF SWORDS OF THE ANCIENTS PAGE
I know it's late, but I have finally finished writing the mythology of the Exotath swords and it has been added to the Tale of the Swords of the Ancients page. The mythology tells of the swords' creation, the Elf Agnemmel, the Dark One, the sorcerer wars, and of the oracle Methuscia when she was young. Translations of the blade runes are also included in the tale. The Map of the Swords of the Ancients has also been expanded to include the new locations from the mythology.

3/18/08 Update

BLACKJET THROWING AXE TARGET BUILDING AND TIPS
For those of you who own a BlackJet Axe, I thought I would post some pix of my own throwing target. This was made entirely of scrap wood so it looks a bit shabby but it gets the job done. If you buy wood, use treated lumber for the frame so it won't warp on you after it rains. My target is 7 1/2' tall and 20” wide, and 39“ deep from the front to the back supports. I built it to lean slightly back, about 80 degrees. I found this does not affect throwing, but when a novice makes a bad throw and gets a bounce-back it can shave the distance it comes back! I use 1 1/2” thick x 9 1/4“ wide x 2' long replaceable boards (the boards you see on the left and right are new boards) and I just flip them over when one side gets chopped up. When they get really worn I replace them with new ones. I use 3” wood screws and attach them from the back, never the front. You don't want your blade to hit a screw. Be sure to run the grain vertically so your axes and knives stick more easily. Next time I'll post some throwing tips.

                    ...and for those of you who have just started throwing, here are a few pix of the many ways you can trick-throw the BlackJet; point-first, axe-tip first, back-point first, and pommel-tip first. I designed it with several points so when you master one way of throwing you can change to another. If you are wondering, I never use the actual cutting edge for throwing. My favorite throw is to stick the two top points first, just like a throwing knife.

NOTICE! SOME EXOTATH'S MISSING KIT'S AUTOGRAPH ON POSTER
We just found that the first shipment of Exotath autographed editions that shipped to dealers from United Cutlery last week were packed with the unsigned posters by mistake. Kit hand signed the posters with a gold metallic pen on the lower left side. The lower right side has a smaller signature that was in the original art. If your poster is missing the hand signed signature contact United Cutlery at 1-800-548-0835 about geting your poster replaced. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. EXOTATH - PHOTOS AND ART of the NEW SWORD OF THE ANCIENTS!
Exotath is the latest in the Swords of the Ancients collection. This sword has been in the works for the past year and it is near complete so we can at last post some photos! The sword should be shipping from dealers sometime in March if all goes well. There are plans to release a custom fit wall plaque and a shoulder scabbard in a few months as well. Dealers should be taking pre-orders for the autographed first production run now, so get you orders in with your favorite Kit Rae supplier soon. We expect the first 1500 to go fast as this is the first 'new' Kit Rae sword design in almost two years! The new Exotath poster art is up in the Gallery, and the mythology story behind the sword is up in the Tale of the Swords of the Ancients section. As with previous editions, Kit has hand signed the first 1500 posters included with each sword. Below are photos of the prototype.

BLACKJET THROWING AXE NOW SHIPPING!
Kit Rae is well known for his fantasy swords and blades, but few know Kit has also been an avid throwing knife and axe enthusiast for over fifteen years. Now Kit has added his own favorite throwing axe design to the Kit Rae. The BlackJet is fully functional, constructed of one solid piece of 420 stainless steel. It is 14 7/8" overall in length and includes a nylon blade pouch. These are fun to throw and Kit has designed them with three points (axe edge, back point, pommel point) to stick in your target, so whether you are a novice or pro you can still enjoy! KIT RAE IN THE MOVIES
We have not had a movie appearance update in a while so here are a few recent ones. Both versions of Kit's Sword of Vaelen (UC1121, UC1240) make an appearance in Eli Roth's film Hostel 2, and no, they are not used to kill anyone. Actress Bijou Phillips and Lauren German play-swordfight in one scene of the film. A few knockoffs of the Sword of Darkness are also visible in another scene. Kit's sword Anathros makes an appearance, this time not in a film, but in the DVD box art for the unrated version of the film Pathfinder. We don't know why Anathros was used instead of the hero sword used in the film. Perhaps some graphic designer at Sony pictures just thought it was cool. KIT RAE SWORDS IN "TWO WORLDS" GAME
Many of Kit's weapon designs appear in the new PC / X-Box 360 role playing game game "Two Worlds" (2-worlds.com), from TopWare Interactive. A special tri-lingual Collector's Edition (English, French and German) of Two Worlds was also released to the European market at the same time as the basic version - and in addition to the game itself, this surprise package has lots of extra goodies. First of all, there's a miniature metal version of the Kilgorin sword that appears in the game. Then there's a T-shirt and a card game (55 sheets), both with the exclusive Two Worlds design. The magic box also contains a double-sided poster in A2 format with a beautifully-worked map and some artwork. The Valermos sword is featured on the packaging art for the basic version, and several of Kit's Swords of the Ancients swords and his Black Legion Battle Axe can be used by players in the game! The US version comes out in July. Check out the game versions of Kit's weapons below.

LONGCLAW SWORD FROM GEORGE R.R. MARTIN'S "A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE"
Kit has designed John Snow's sword Longclaw, from the New York Times best selling author Gorge R.R. Martin's popular book series "A Song of Ice and Fire". The sword is part of the new Valyrian Steel line of licensed arms and armour from the book series to be produced by Jalic, Inc. "A Song of Ice and Fire" is also on track to become an HBO series. THE "NEW" UNITED CUTLERY WILL DISTRIBUTE KIT RAE FANTASY ART WEAPONS
United Cutlery, under new ownership, will continue to be the exclusive distributor of the Kit Rae Fantasy Art brand. On January 11th United Cutlery was purchased by Clint Kadel. Clint has been in the knife business since 1989 and is also the owner of a large cutlery retail company headquartered in Moultrie, Georgia. The United offices and warehouse facility will now operate out of Thomasville, Georgia. Kit has signed an exclusive deal with UC to continue to bring you his unique fantasy weapons. There are many new designs Kit can't wait to get started on with the new UC, as well as many other fantasy related products new to the Kit Rae brand. We wish Clint and his staff the best of luck in bringing United Cutlery back online, and back on-track, and look forward to a long and prosperous future with them.

COLLECTORS - Hang in there! We know Kit's products have been very hard to find recently, and it will take a little more time to get production up and running again, but products will be available soon.

UNITED CUTLERY BANKRUPTCY
As many of you may have heard, United Cutlery, the distributor of the Kit Rae Fantasy Art line of knives and swords, filed for bankruptcy late in 2006. United was purchased in January by Bud-K, a large cutlery retailer and wholesaler operating out of Moultree, Georgia. Kit has not decided if he will stay with the new owners of United or move to a new distributor. We know many of you retailers and wholesalers want to know who to buy products from going forward, so we will announce news here as soon as the decision has been made. STAY TUNED!

DARKCON 2007
DarkCon in Phoenix was a blast! Kit was the artist guest of honor. Thanks to Nola and the staff of DarkCon for making us feel welcome and making it such a great con.
